So THE FIRST thing you need to know is YOU CANNOT USE THIS FAN WITHOUT THE REMOTE CONTROL.There, I said it.Now, had I known that, or had it been in the description, or had I NOT assumed it would be like EVERY OTHER fan (remote optional), I probably would've passed on this fan. Remotes can be nice OPTIONS (for some), but as the sole means of operation? I don't like it and I don't trust it. Besides, the remote feels like the cheapest thing in the whole box too! This motor may last 15yrs, but the remote is questionable. As for the fan, well, it certainly feels durable. The motor is definitely NOT as heavy as some of the AC fan motors and that's fine, it actually makes installing a breeze. Fan comes with all the bells and whistles need for a clean install, (e.g. oversized cover to hide receiver, a couple of poles for different heights, caps for screws, etc) and the wood blades do a nice job, look very nice and cut the the air smoothly and quietly.Expect to get different wire nuts, the ones provided, while being orange ARE NOT rated for 14g wire! So if you're a 'do it yourselfer' and don't understand this, you would not properly be protecting your wires and risk bare wire exposure, melting from heat and or simple dead shorts. The wire nuts provided are blue rated 18g > (higher the number, thinner the wire) masquerading as orange. Do yourself a favor and go get actual 14g rated wire nuts (Orange or better yet, yellows) and be safe.Again, fan looks nice after install. Mine was balanced perfectly, no shake or wobble, so I didn't need the weights. Biggest concern for me was remote control only. Really annoying only to discover this AFTER install.OH and here's the kicker, I have the fan on a wall switch, so even if switch is turned off with fan running, IT DOES NOT resume operation when switch is turned back on, you MUST grab the remote to reactivate fan. That's even stupider. LoL.Well, I'm going to ride this out. I mean, yeah, it was $240, so I should be completely happy and satisfied, but at this point, I concede. My time is more valuable, the fan is up, it works and it looks nice, so we'll see.Hope it this helps. The fan and light look great. It's more modern and noiseless. The installation didn't take long, and an extra pair of hands was very helpful when attaching it to the ceiling bracket. The instructions missed a few things, such as the cover that slipped over the rod. Overall a great product.Wall switch only provides power. The fan and light must be turned on and controlled by the remote. If I knew this I would have passed. The hardware is decent, but the wire nuts provided are insufficient and you will need higher rates larger ones. The remote feels too light but works. The buttons provided force the fan and light to be shut off at the same time. If you had both fan and light on but want to shut off fan, you will need to turn the light back on after turning the fan off. The motor does have a noise when changing speeds on the natural wind setting which is annoying. I'm going to use this for a week and see if I will keep or return. It has the look I'm after but the lack of wall switch control might be a deal breaker for me. I have a light switch on the wall that doesn't do anything now and the fan switch on the wall just needs to stay on forever for the remote only operation to work. :(The pictures online accurately represent the actual product. Vast improvement over the builder grade fan that came with our house. Especially impressed with the blades which are in fact real wood, but are engineered well and fit the motor precisely. I’ve installed MANY ceiling fans in my day - this one was certainly no more difficult than most and maybe even a bit easier. Comes with balancing kit, but I didn’t need it. No wobble whatsoever. Noise level is fine - pretty much like any other fan. Airflow is excellent. Operated fully by remote. So no chains hanging down or switch on motor to reverse direction. ONLY complaint - Fan loses “memory” when wall switch turned off. I wish the fan would return to what it was doing before. Minor issue though. Very pleased. What a big difference this fan has made. Our old traditional 5 blade ceiling fan moved some air but you had to have it on a high level to feel any air movement. This fan at level 1 provides just a small bit of air movement and works great with our vaulted ceiling. I like the real wood(Balsa) blades and the different lengths of down rod. We used the 2 foot length with our ceiling and some small movement of the fan at high levels.Silencioso, minimalista.Love this fan. Looks very nice! I did hire an electrician to install but he said it was easy. So if you have any knowledge of electrical and are comfortable with a dyi, you could skip that cost. Still 100% happy’A few issues others should be aware of.1) The box the fan comes in has the version that had the light, the seller was good communicating this before it was delivered.2) Many of the parts did not have a dedicated / foam protected location in the box and were free floating. Nothing damaged or missing but odd for sure.3) When installing into an existing light receptacle box the mounting bracket does not line up with the box screw location. This may be intentional to avoid issues when the weight but my receptical box ir rated for the weight. I had to go into the attic and install wood slats to screw the mounting bracket into.4) There is a canopy cover but the instructions don't list in the steps to install it. There is a picture but in the incorrect place. I needed to uninstall going back a few steps and start over... a bit of a pain for sure. Its installed and working great.I do however think the 5" drop rod still has the fan very low on a standard 8' ceiling. A taller person will find this very close to their head. I modified / shortened the rod by 1.75" but the install tolerances are very tight.
